Black Boys are Diamonds—
Little Black n’ Brown boys got to be who they be
His clothes clean as a bone, rougher than marrow
Your eyes don’t stitch how he see
‘We make noise not clothes.’
The Introduction,
Black Boys are Diamonds (BBAD*) is a fashion exhibition featuring thirteen pieces, visual projection, and a magazine to tell the story of a Black Boy being his greatest self—a Diamond.
Like coal under pressure, Black Boys end up shining. At its core, BBAD* mixes streetwear and avant-garde to star Black Boys who find their identity through fashion. We continue to search for inspiration, motivation, guidance for our art.
Our goal at the end of this collection is to highlight BBAD* as a pillar; we want to be that noise for Black and Brown students to speak their hearts.
Black Culture is more than just a department: it is storytelling, it is noise, it is fashion it is infinite.
